Our Lady of Fatima refers to the title given to the Virgin Mary following her apparitions to three shepherd children—Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta—in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. Over six months, Mary appeared to the children, delivering messages of prayer, repentance, and the need for devotion to her Immaculate Heart. She urged the faithful to pray the Rosary daily for peace and to make reparation for sins. The apparitions culminated in the “Miracle of the Sun,” witnessed by thousands. Our Lady of Fatima is honored for her call to conversion, peace, and the importance of spiritual devotion, particularly through the Rosary.
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has decreed that this is a Holy Day of Memorial (Optional) to be observed in Canada.
