Saint Vincent Ferrer, born in 1350 in Spain, was a Dominican friar and preacher known for his missionary work and extraordinary sermons. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, preaching repentance and urging people to return to the faith, particularly during the turbulent times of the Western Schism. Vincent is credited with converting thousands, and his emphasis on the Second Coming of Christ and the need for reform deeply impacted medieval Europe. He was known for his miraculous healings and prophetic gifts. St. Vincent Ferrer died in 1419, and his feast day is celebrated on April 5th, honouring his devotion to evangelization and piety.
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has decreed that this is a Holy Day of Memorial (Optional) to be observed in Canada.
