MIDLAND (18 October 2016) – One hundred and fifty generous community members attended the 3rd annual Tiawenk fundraising dinner and auction on Saturday September 24th 2016. Together, with the support of the Organizing Committee, the attendees, sponsors, and community, donors raised $45,814, surpassing this year’s goal of $25,000 by over twenty thousand dollars!
The proceeds of the dinner will fund the renovation of the Filion Centre located beneath the church. This renovation will create a four-season space conducive to education and quiet reflection that will allow Martyrs’ Shrine to offer educational programming in the winter months as well as serve as a prayer space for pilgrims over the summer, and a meeting space for community groups.
Martyrs’ Shrine would like to thank event attendees, the local businesses who sponsored the event, as well as our friends and benefactors, who either contributed auction prizes or made a donation to the cause. We are also very thankful to an anonymous benefactor who graciously matched all sponsorships and donations received.
