Come visit the museum to explore the treasures of the Shrine!
The Martyrs’ Hall and Education Centre at the Shrine displays a variety of unique artifacts and relics from the history and lives of the Jesuits and their mission in Huronia. Beginning with the founding of the Jesuits by St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Martyrs’ Hall Museum and Education Centre takes you on a journey, framing the story of the Martyrs and the Shrine into four themes: Genesis, Mission, Martyrdom & Resurrection. Follow the Jesuit Missionaries to the New World and the establishment of Sainte Marie among the Hurons and discover the story of the martyrdom of these eight men and the burning of the Sainte Marie settlement. Understand how the Mission of the Martyrs continues to live on and how the lives and martyrdom of the Canadian Jesuit Saints continue to impact people.
The hall also holds our archives, an overwhelming collection of relics, paintings, and books which are available to view by appointment. For a better understanding of the sorts of treasures included in our archive collection, please see the Shrine Archives section of our website.
