A Latin word, central to the spirituality of the Society of Jesus, ‘magis’ translates as: ‘greater’ and, for women and men steeped in the Ignatian tradition, it expresses the desire to serve the ‘greater glory of God’.  Guests of The Magis are provided with a beautiful community environment of rest, prayer, study, relaxation, and fun, that they might leave renewed, both in body and soul, and thereby poised to offer themselves all the more, in service, to the glory of God.

Accommodation

The Magis Guesthouse offers accommodation for all visiting Jesuits, religious, and diocesan clergy. Featuring four types of rooms with private en-suite and wifi, guests at The Magis will find a welcoming stay with amenities suited to their individual needs.

The Magis features modest accommodation for visiting religious, academics, and researchers in renovated rooms that feature a twin bed, desk, and private bathroom.

Access to both Martyrs' Shrine and Sainte-Marie among the Huron is included for the duration of stays. Relax and pray on the serene 75 manicured acres of the shrine, enter the Church of St. Joseph; or visit the 17th century village, and museum at Sainte-Marie among the Huron.

Access to the Maison + Sainte-Marie + House community's private library, Martyrs' Shrine archives, and Sainte-Marie among the Huron's museum for academics and researchers.

Community Life

The Magis Guesthouse is located next to the newly founded Jesuit community, Maison + Sainte-Marie + House.  All are invited, as guests, to pray in its chapel, borrow literature from its library, relax in its common room, and take lunch and supper in its refectory.  It is our hope that, by sharing in prayer, meals, and conversation, surrounded by an atmosphere of enriching Christian fellowship all will grow in ‘the Magis’.

Access to the Grounds

Access to both Martyrs' Shrine and Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is included for the duration of stays. Relax and pray on the serene seventy-five acres of manicured grounds of the shrine, enter the Church of St. Joseph; visit the 17th century village, and museum, at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, and much more.
