Photos from the Open House for Fr. Bernie

The Martyrs’ Shrine Board of Trustees would like to express their gratitude to everyone who came to give their best wishes to Fr. Bernie at the open house held on Monday, December 14th.  We shared stories and memories and enjoyed spending time together during this busy Christmas season.

Fr. Bernie Carroll is finishing his 5-year directorship at the Martyrs’ Shrine in January 2016 and will be moving on to a new position at the Loyola House Retreat and Training Centre in Guelph, Ontario.  Over one hundred people, including the Provincial of the Jesuits in English Canada, mayors of Midland and Tay, and local  MP Bruce Stanton came to wish a fond farewell to Fr. Bernie.

The most poignant moment of the evening occurred when Fr. Bernard Carroll, S.J. received an eagle feather from Rosella Kinoshameg. Fr. Carroll was visibly moved by this very sacred honour. Rosella also presented him with a handmade deerskin stole on behalf of the Board of Trustees.
