Sts. Perpetua and Felicity (M)

March 7, 2029

Sts. Perpetua and Felicity were Christian martyrs who died in Carthage, North Africa, in 203 AD. Perpetua, a young noblewoman, and Felicity, her slave, were imprisoned for their Christian faith during the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus. Despite harsh persecution, they remained steadfast in their belief. Perpetua, a mother, recorded her visions and experiences in prison, showing her deep faith. Felicity, pregnant at the time, gave birth before her martyrdom. Both women were eventually sentenced to death in the arena, where they were killed for their faith. Their feast day is celebrated on March 7th, honouring their courage and devotion.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has decreed that this is a Holy Day of Memorial reduced to an Optional Memorial to be observed in Canada.
