Saint Raymond of Penyafort (c. 1175–1275) was a Spanish Dominican friar and a renowned scholar and preacher. He is best known for his work in canon law, compiling the Decretals of Gregory IX, which became a foundational text for Church law. Raymond also played a key role in the formation of the Dominican Order, helping to organize its structure and missions. As a trusted advisor to King James I of Aragon, he was instrumental in promoting Christian teachings in Spain. Saint Raymond was known for his piety, intellect, and dedication to spreading the Gospel.
