Blessed Catherine de Saint-Augustin (1632–1668) was a French-born nun who became a key figure in the early Catholic mission in Canada. She entered the Congregation of the Ursulines in Quebec and devoted her life to education and care for others. Known for her deep spirituality, humility, and dedication, Catherine played an essential role in the establishment of the Ursuline convent in Quebec, where she taught girls, both Indigenous and French, and helped lay the foundations for Catholic education in the region. Beatified in 1989, she is remembered for her selfless service and unwavering faith, impacting the growth of the Church in Canada.
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has decreed that this is a Holy Day of Memorial (Optional) to be observed in Canada.
